The General Laborer is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient transfer station yard. This position assists with traffic control, site housekeeping, waste inspection, equipment support, and customer service while ensuring compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Direct customers and commercial haulers to designated disposal areas.
Inspect incoming loads for prohibited or hazardous materials.
Maintain cleanliness of the transfer station, tipping floor, yard, and surrounding grounds.
Pick up litter and debris throughout the facility.
Assist equipment operators with daily operations as needed.
Perform basic maintenance tasks on containers, fencing, and site infrastructure.
Monitor customer activity to ensure safe unloading procedures.
Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and coworkers.
Follow all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company policies.
Assist with opening and closing facility operations.
Complete assigned labor tasks in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in waste management, construction, landscaping, or general labor is a plus.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
Strong attention to safety and ability to follow instructions.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
